At one of Berlin's most beautiful locations, directly on Gendarmenmarkt in Mitte, Lutter & Wegner has been serving what German dining culture stands for for over two centuries. Classic cuisine, exquisite wines, and during asparagus season, the best that the Beelitz fields have to offer.

Asparagus Dining in Berlin: What the Menu Offers for the 2026 Season

During asparagus season, the kitchen at Lutter & Wegner is in top form. From late March to June 2026, Lutter & Wegner serves the highest quality asparagus from Beelitz and Kremmen asparagus farmers, fresh daily from the field directly to your plate. What we particularly like: The menu offers a real choice for asparagus dining. There is Beelitz white asparagus in the classic variant with parsley potatoes and freshly whipped Sauce Hollandaise or melted butter, optionally with Havelland boiled ham, a small Wiener Schnitzel of milk-fed veal, Fjord salmon steak, or Pomeranian beef rump steak. Those who prefer something lighter will also find a risotto with Beelitz asparagus, with white and green asparagus, cherry tomatoes, and grated Grana Padano. So, asparagus is not just a side dish, but the main star in several variations.

A House with Over 200 Years of Berlin History

What began in 1811 as a small wine tavern on Charlottenstraße has evolved over two centuries into a legendary meeting place for connoisseurs, artists, and cosmopolitans. Today, restaurateur Josef Laggner runs the house on Gendarmenmarkt as a destination for timeless wine enjoyment and cultivated table culture. Thus, Lutter & Wegner is not an ordinary restaurant, but a piece of living city history. By the way: After a roughly 50-year interruption in business, the company has been located on Gendarmenmarkt again since 1997. If you are looking for a place in Berlin for asparagus dining that is both a landmark and top-notch cuisine, you should visit here. The Konzerthaus and the German Cathedral are just a few steps away.
