Das Weinlokal in Rupprechtstraße in Lichtenberg belongs to sommelier Salvatore Lampariello, who is among the 50 best sommeliers in Germany. More than 120 handpicked wines from five European countries are on the changing list, twenty of them by the glass. Alongside them come modern pizzas matched to the wines.

Das Weinlokal: over 120 European wines in Lichtenberg

Wine bars are rarely found in Lichtenberg, Berlin, which is precisely why the trip to Rupprechtstraße 31 is worthwhile. The wine bar belongs to Salvatore Lampariello, who comes from the island of Ischia and has worked in Berlin at places like the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Horváth and Lovis. He is a certified Sommelier of the Court of Master Sommeliers and is listed among Germany’s 50 best sommeliers in the Schlemmer Atlas.

The space is decorated in a Scandinavian style with an Italian touch, minimalist and warm at the same time, with a hint of speakeasy. There’s no grand stage or loud spectacle, but rather space for smaller gatherings. Reservations are made by phone or email, and it’s worth doing so on weekends because tables are often taken.

Natural Wines, Neapolitan Pizza, and Monthly Tastings

The menu changes and includes over 120 handpicked wines from Italy, Germany, France, Spain, and Portugal, from classics like Riesling and Barolo to natural wines. Das Weinlokal also serves twenty of these by the glass. Salvatore Lampariello personally visits the mostly small, family-run wineries and brings the bottles directly to Berlin.

The kitchen also prepares modern pizzas with a Neapolitan influence, designed to pair with the wines and be both fluffy and crispy. This is complemented by creative tapas, cheese platters, and seasonal desserts, including vegetarian and vegan options. Once a month, the establishment hosts a guided tasting with at least five wines and matching snacks for 39 Euros per person, often with the winemakers themselves present.
