Good Time Restaurant at Hausvogteiplatz in Berlin-Mitte

The Good Time Restaurant is located at Hausvogteiplatz, just a few steps from Gendarmenmarkt and directly above the U2 subway station of the same name. The square was once the center of Berlin’s ready-to-wear industry and is now a relatively quiet corner between ministries, office buildings, and Spittelmarkt. The address is also easily accessible by bus lines M48, 147, and 265. Those arriving by car should expect paid parking in this part of Mitte.

The establishment is operated by Willem Salim together with a partner. A second Good Time is located on Teltower Damm in Zehlendorf, but the Mitte address is the larger and more central of the two. The rooms are spacious, and in summer there is also an inner courtyard. The subtitle the establishment has given itself is “Indonesian and Thai experiential cuisine,” which describes its orientation quite accurately.

Two Cuisines on One Menu: Thailand and Indonesia

The menu places Thai and Indonesian dishes side-by-side. Thai options include the soups Tom Kha Gai and Tom Yam Gung, the papaya salad Somm Tamm, chicken with cashews Gai Med Ma Muang, and duck Ped Kiemao. The Indonesian side offers Gado Gado, a vegetarian vegetable dish with peanut sauce, and Lamb Massaman. A Pad Thai costs 19.00 Euros, Gado Gado 17.00 Euros.

Vegetarian dishes are specially marked on the menu, from the spring roll Lumpia Sayur to the soup Soto Sayur and fried tofu with vegetables. However, there is no vegan designation. For lunch, a separate business lunch menu offers smaller portions and lower prices. Each dish has an allergen number noted, with the legend provided on the menu.
