Langano

Langano in Kreuzberg is Berlin's destination for authentic Ethiopian cuisine: spices like cardamom and chili, injera as both plate and cutlery, and hospitality that welcomes everyone.
Doro Wot’, Kitfo and Dju-Dju Beer: The Cuisine at Langano
Langano is known for its uncompromising Ethiopian cuisine. The menu features classics such as Doro Wot’ (chicken in Ethiopian paprika sauce), Kitfo (raw, minced beef with Ethiopian butter), T’ibs (grilled or fried lamb), and Shinbera Asa Wot’ (roasted chickpea balls in chili sauce). Strong vegetarian options are also available, with about ten vegetarian main dishes to choose from. The meal is served as it should be: at Langano, Ethiopian dishes are prepared and eaten with injera, the sourdough flatbread, using fingers. Ethiopian dishes are known for their intense spice blend of chili, cardamom, and paprika, as well as the typical spiced butter. If you get thirsty, you should study the drink menu carefully. Langano offers African specialties in addition to classic drinks. Exotic options like Dju-Dju beer or the Langano Beach cocktail are also available. On weekends, it’s worth checking out the bar: the Ethiopian coffee ceremony takes place here on Saturdays.
A Kreuzberg Original at Moritzplatz
Langano is one of the established African addresses in the neighborhood. Praise is always given to the warm owner and consistent quality. The restaurant is located not far from Kottbusser Tor, a place known for its multicultural dining options. The area between Moritzplatz, Kottbusser Tor, and Görlitzer Bahnhof is now a vibrant mix of bars, clubs, restaurants, and cultural venues. If you want to have a drink after dinner, you’ll find other well-known addresses in the immediate vicinity: Hasir on Adalbertstraße, for example, has been part of the dining scene since 1984, and Orania.Restaurant on Oranienplatz stands for upscale cuisine with a chic ambiance and good wines.
