In tranquil Schöneberg, not far from Viktoria-Luise-Platz, one of Berlin's most beautiful matcha spots is hidden. Café Komine combines French patisserie art with Japanese precision and serves tarts that are almost too beautiful to eat.

Matcha Latte, Matcha Tiramisu and more: The Offer at Café Komine

Café Komine specializes in fine French-Japanese patisserie, with matcha running like a red thread through the menu. The Matcha Latte is velvety and intense, without turning bitter. There’s also Matcha Soft Ice, which tastes silky and creamy, as well as the legendary Matcha Tiramisu, a reinterpretation of the classic that is pleasantly light and aromatic. Another highlight is the Matcha Sesame: an airy matcha mousse with sesame cream and a sesame-almond brittle on the sides. Additionally, there are changing tarts like Yuzu Cheesecake, Mont Blanc, and Matcha Cake with sesame brittle. Besides matcha, teas include Sencha, Hōjicha, and Mariage-Frères teas. Everything is served in a small pot, with a small water carafe and a mint leaf. The menu is exclusively vegetarian.

A Fixture in Schöneberg Since 2016

Café Komine opened in December 2016, founded by Shin Komine, a former cellist who turned his passion for patisserie into a profession at Le Cordon Bleu in Tokyo. Since then, the small café has become a beloved fixture in the neighborhood. If you want to stroll around after your visit: Viktoria-Luise-Platz is just a short walk away, and KaDeWe is also nearby. As the café is very popular and has limited seating, a reservation in advance is recommended. It is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12:30 PM.
