For me, a really good breakfast is one of the most delightful morning rituals there is. I love to take my time, flip through a book, and enjoy a truly great cup of coffee with it. To compile this list, I ate my way through Berlin, paying special attention to the quality of the ingredients, the attention to detail in the preparation, and the café’s atmosphere. Here are my favorite Berlin cafés for the perfect start to the day!

Tomasa in Villa Kreuzberg is one of Berlin's most beautiful breakfast spots: a historic brick building right by Viktoriapark, which has attracted people from the neighborhood and around the world for almost two decades with its lavish menu and warm atmosphere.

Flowers, cakes, and lavish breakfast platters, right on Kollwitzplatz in Prenzlauer Berg. Café Anna Blume combines Berlin coffee house culture with the scent of a flower shop and has been known for years as one of the city's most famous breakfast spots.

KRONE kitchen & coffee on Oderberger Straße in Prenzlauer Berg is one of Berlin's most beautiful breakfast cafés: warm wooden tables, velvet-patterned retro couches, and a kitchen that serves everything homemade. Once you sit here, you'll never want to leave.

Located at Schiffbauerdamm in Mitte, Zimt & Zucker coffee house is a place that combines 1920s Viennese coffee house culture with Berlin character. Velvet armchairs, warm orange tones, and a view of the Spree turn breakfast in Berlin into a true ritual.

Located in Berlin Mitte at Zionskirchplatz, Café Kapelle naturally blends where neighborhood meets character. Natural ingredients, Rhenish black bread, and a breakfast you won't soon forget make this café one of the most charming addresses for breakfast in Berlin.

Strandbad Mitte in Berlin Mitte is the café for everyone who wants to enjoy breakfast in Berlin without tourist crowds. Hidden in a cul-de-sac near Oranienburger Straße, it serves hearty classics in a charming swimming pool ambiance with deck chairs outside.

Hoppegarten in Steglitz is Berlin's coziest proof that a good breakfast needs no trends. For decades, this restaurant, cafe, and bar on Schloßstraße has attracted regulars from all over the neighborhood who know: everything here is just right.

In Charlottenburg, at Kantstraße 25, you can taste the love for breakfast in every single dish. A Never Ending Love Story is Berlin's rosy-pink answer to everything that defines a good café in Berlin: carefully prepared food, a warm atmosphere, and pancakes that are almost unimaginable until you see them on your table.

Banana Bread, Muffins, home-made cheesecake, the most diverse bagel creations matched with delicious coffee or a fresh peppermint tea - be prepared for a breakfast treat at Aunt Benny!

Breakfast with bread and bread rolls fresh from the oven - at Neukölln's Schiller Café this is the ideal way of starting your morning with an early breakfast treat.
