Since the beginning of June 2024, traditional matcha drinks with a modern twist have been available here. Behind it lies a personal story: Founder Kaito Vezzoli grew up in Switzerland with Japanese tea culture because his mother Noriko comes from Shizuoka, a Japanese city known for its green tea. Together with his girlfriend Tatiana Timofeeva, he has been running the café since day one. The location is no coincidence. Eberswalder Straße is one of the liveliest neighborhood addresses in Prenzlauer Berg. In addition to chic boutiques, cafés, and restaurants, it is also home to Berlin’s oldest beer garden, the Prater Biergarten. If you want to spend more time in the district, you can also find a relaxed stop for porridge and coffee at Café Haferkater, also on Eberswalder Straße. Kai Matcha House thus fits well into a street that already has a lot to offer culinarily.
