Mine Restaurant

Mikhail Mnatsakanov, son of Russian star chef Aram Mnatsakanov, has been running the Italian restaurant Mine & Wine in Charlottenburg since 2016. A Russian preparing upscale Italian cuisine – is that even possible? And how! Mine&Wine, located where Henry Levy’s former two-star restaurant “Maitre” once stood on Meinekestraße, is the first Berlin restaurant of Aram Mnatsakanov’s dynasty, who operates a successful restaurant chain in Eastern Europe.

Guests are greeted in the restaurant by a rather unusual ambiance featuring a vintage-style interior with natural stone walls, tiled floors, simple tables and chairs, and a large, bright window front. The dishes at Mine are prepared with the freshest ingredients and professionally arranged on the plates. Appetizers include modern interpretations of Italian specialties such as house-smoked salmon with avocado, edamame, mixed green salad and mango granita, red shrimp ceviche with spicy pickled daikon and ginger ice cream, or pâté de foie gras with grilled avocado. The next course features exquisite pasta creations, including Cacio e Pepe with black, white, and green pepper, Pecorino Romano and Parmigiano Reggiano, or Maltagliati with Perigord duck ragout. For main courses, talented chefs create risotto with asparagus, burrata and tuna caviar, lamb shoulder with meat sauce and roasted cauliflower, or classic braised beef cheeks with twenty-two Tuscan herbs and lavender-smoked mashed potatoes. The dessert menu entices with homemade truffles, filled with chocolate ganache and flavored with rosemary, or a typical Italian Panna Cotta, enriched with sour cherry.

Part of the restaurant is also the Wine Bar, whose exquisite wine list, dominated by natural wines, was compiled by sommelier Holger Schwarz. Overall, Mine&Wine, with its simple yet highly demanding quality products, casual ambiance, and elegant food presentation, is reminiscent of upscale gastronomy in London or New York.
