Mr. Minsch

At Yorckstraße 15 in Kreuzberg, master confectioner Andreas Minsch bakes up to 20 different cakes and tarts daily, following traditional craftsmanship. The street café, with a view into the bakery, has long been a firmly established institution in Berlin's confectionery scene.
Mr. Minsch: Craftsmanship Behind Glass
Anyone walking along Yorckstraße on a morning will inevitably look through the large glass front into the bakery. There, Andreas Minsch weighs ingredients, kneads doughs, bakes, and decorates. On offer is the best of 150 years of confectionery art: classic cakes and specialty tarts based on the master’s favorite recipes. Directly from the bakery, without intermediaries and without preservatives. The assortment changes with the seasons: every month there is a new cake menu that reflects the seasonal change. Particularly popular are classics like Black Forest cherry cake, raspberry tart, or the Franconian apple cake made from an old family recipe. The cakes are fresh and diverse, with many varieties that are not too sweet and offer excellent taste.
Confectionery and Street Café in One
Mr. Minsch’s concept is as charming as it is straightforward. The entrance door transforms into a counter with a horizontally folding wooden panel. Customers choose their cakes from the display window, then the confectioner or his staff hand out the desired goods. If you wish, you can take a piece home. When the neighboring shop became vacant, the originally small confectionery grew into a small café, with 25 indoor seats and a remarkable 60 outdoor seats. Although there can sometimes be waiting times, the atmosphere is relaxed, and there are many outdoor seating options. Sundays are particularly busy. For those looking for a very personal cake: Andreas Minsch also accepts elaborate custom orders, such as wedding cakes.
