Since 1994, Cynthia Barcomi and her team have been roasting their own Arabica beans and baking everything themselves in Kreuzberg's Bergmannkiez. With this, the American baking icon has not only created an institution on Bergmannstraße but has also shaped Berlin's coffee culture.

Located in a former building of Görlitzer Bahnhof in Kreuzberg, Berlin's first black light mini-golf course features 18 UV-lit holes across five painted theme rooms, from the Brandenburg Gate to an underwater world. A round takes about one to one and a half hours and costs 13 Euros. Ideal as an autumn activity in Berlin, as rain is not an issue here.

On Hufelandstraße in Prenzlauer Berg, Jubel demonstrates what confectionery art at a Michelin level means: small tarts and petit fours with surprising flavor combinations, minimalist design, and a glass display case that makes you stop and stare.

In Charlottenburg, directly on Kantstraße, stands one of Berlin's most popular patisseries: Der Kuchenladen impresses with around 30 homemade cakes and tarts daily, from the classic Black Forest cherry cake to the creative Manhattan Queen made of mascarpone and basil sugar.

In Goltzstraße in Schöneberg, Detlev Lüke runs the original branch of Tee Tea Thé, a tea shop with an attached salon, offering over 350 loose tea varieties, according to their own statements. As a Ronnefeldt brand partner, the establishment serves its High Tea on a silver tiered stand, with scones and clotted cream made according to their own recipe. In Wedding, near Müllerstraße, Stefanie Kietz opened the family café Zaunkönig because she felt such a place was missing in the neighborhood. Here, children play on an indoor playground while parents relax with organic coffee and homemade cake.

The Zitronencafé (Lemon Café) in Körnerpark is a beautiful place with a large sun terrace in the middle of Neukölln.

On the western shore of Lake Weißensee in Weißensee, Ormos by Milchhäuschen sits as a sun-drenched café with a Greek soul. The expansive lakeside terrace, the bright glass pavilion, and a menu ranging from mezze to homemade cake make this place a sun café with true lido charm.

At Hohenzollerndamm 92 in Schmargendorf, the Otte family has been running their original establishment in the Viennese coffee house style since 1980. About a hundred cake creations are produced annually from their own manufactory, along with apple strudel and Kaiserschmarrn.

Where Tiergarten meets tradition: Konditorei-Café Buchwald on Bartningallee in Moabit is Berlin's oldest confectionery, known for its legendary Baumkuchen since 1852 and still family-owned. Those who manage to get a seat here experience coffee house culture at its finest.

Winterfeldt Schokoladen on Goltzstraße in Schöneberg sells chocolates and pralines in a former pharmacy from 1892. The goods are displayed in original wooden drawers, and the small café offers Italian-style hot chocolate.

In a renovated old building in Tucholskystraße in Mitte, Good Q offers coffee specialities, quiches, bagels, scones and very tasty frozen yogurt with high-quality toppings.

The family café Mi Mundo in Berlin-Spandau, specifically in Staaken, is the children's café in western Berlin that allows parents to relax and children to play freely. Home-baked waffles, a well-designed room concept without sharp edges, and a garden with an adventure ship make this place a reliable address for families.

Café Bravo in the courtyard of the KW Institute for Contemporary Art on Auguststraße in Berlin-Mitte is arguably the city's most beautiful museum café. Cobblestones, old trees, and an iconic glass pavilion make Sundays here a real event.

Berlin-Kreuzberg's Barcomi's combines the qualities of a coffee roaster with a pastry shop serving American cakes and pastries in true New York style.

Lieschen Müller is located on the ground floor of the TV Tower, with a summer terrace by the Neptune Fountain's water features. It is named after Marlies, once an artist in the GDR State Circus and a dancer in the old Friedrichstadtpalast. On weekends, the Cirque du Burlesque takes place here, offering four hours of burlesque and modern circus at eye level with the audience.

On the quiet Körtestraße in Kreuzberg, Café Freudberg hides behind a cake counter that is second to none: vegan cakes, homemade waffles, and breakfast with organic, regional ingredients make this small café a fixed address for all who want to eat plant-based and well.

At Yorckstraße 15 in Kreuzberg, master confectioner Andreas Minsch bakes up to 20 different cakes and tarts daily, following traditional craftsmanship. The street café, with a view into the bakery, has long been a firmly established institution in Berlin's confectionery scene.

Vux on Wipperstraße in Neukölln has been a purely vegan café with Brazilian roots since 2009. Cakes, cupcakes, and bagels come from their own bakery, along with açaí and passion fruit smoothies, bao buns, and gluten-free cakes. Perfect for a rainy autumn day in Berlin: hot coffee and cake just a few steps from the historic Richardplatz.

This Friedrichshain café location has its very own flair: lovely decorated cups, a cosy seating area in front of an Art Nouveau stove and an old chess table are thoughtful details.
