Prenzlauer Berg

Enjoy some game burgers in a rustic yet modern atmosphere in Penzlauer Berg.

For all those who like to try extraordinary stuff there is Hirsch & Eber. You’ll find the restaurant in Kollwitzstraße in Prenzlauer Berg. All burgers are made of wild boar which gives them a distinct game flavor. Before the Hirsch & Eber restaurant opened their concept was approved by the crowd on Berlin’s street food markets.

The menu offers a handful of boar burgers. They use regional products only. The wild boar is truly wild, trapped in Germany’s woods, which makes it sustainable meat. All ingredients are organic, the buns are handmade and all sauces and dips are homemade. It’s not just the game that makes the burgers taste so unique; the other components are just as special. The “Schickimicki Burger” comes with Cumberland sauce, fresh pear, walnuts and goat cheese while the “Pulled Boar” is with Hokkaido pumpkin-apricot-chutney, sprouts, jalapeño slaw, and BBQ sauce. Veggies can opt for a burger with Portobello mushroom, port wine onions and basil mayonnaise.

As the burger isn’t the biggest you might also want to order some homemade French fries. They come in three different variations: salted, with thymine and sea salt, and with truffles and Parmesan cheese. They also offer regional soft drinks as well as craft beer, wine and a few selected cocktails.

The interior is rustic yet modern. You’re seated on dark wooded tables and the burgers are served on wooden trays. If the weather is good you can also eat outside in front of the restaurant and enjoy the atmosphere of the busy neighborhood.

Top10 Berlin tip: On Saturdays and Sundays Hirsch & Eber also offers a brunch menu.
