Café am Neuen See

Set on the Neuer See in the Tiergarten park, the café is a large lakeside beer garden in summer and a warm restaurant with an open fire in winter.
Beer garden on the Neuer See in the Tiergarten
Café am Neuen See sits right on the shore of the Neuer See in the middle of the Tiergarten park. In summer, the spacious beer garden under old trees is a popular day-out spot: you sit by the water and can rent rowing boats to paddle across the lake. Despite the central location between the government quarter, Potsdamer Platz and Zoo station, it feels like a trip into the green.
The building is done in a rustic country style with plenty of wood. In winter the fireplace is lit, there is candlelight and a lake view, and until January there is a curling rink with mulled wine. That way the café stays open in every season.
The lunch menu offers stone-oven pizza, tarte flambée and grilled chicken, along with homemade pretzels and Leberkäse. The sourdough bread comes from the in-house bakery. Whether for breakfast, an afternoon by the water or an evening by the fire, Café am Neuen See is busy at any time.
