Acid Bäckerei

Madrid's beloved cult bakery has conquered Berlin-Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg: Acid Bakery bakes artisanal sourdough breads and changing international pastry classics rarely found in Berlin. Minimalist design, organic ingredients, and serious coffee make Acid a cult baker in Berlin.
What makes Acid Bakery in Berlin so special?
Acid Bakery has a surprising origin: Madrid. ACID Bakery opened there in 2017 and quickly became an absolute hit. Since May 2024, the café has been located in Mitte at Rosenthaler Straße 9, and since May 2025 also in Prenzlauer Berg. Anyone who walks through the door for the first time immediately understands why the hype is real. Warm and earthy tones complement the characteristic large stainless steel counter. The concept is well thought out. The secret to its success lies in minimalism: hip design, a small selection of high-quality baked goods, and good coffee. Furthermore, everything is baked directly on site, using organic and seasonal ingredients.
What’s to eat and drink at Acid Bakery?
The bread is the star, and rightly so. The sourdough bread is a real highlight, especially well paired with whipped butter and French cheese. Additionally, there are other classics from the display case. Almond croissants, pain au chocolat, cinnamon rolls, and focaccia are part of the offering. Besides classics, Acid offers monthly specials that reinterpret traditional pastries from various countries in the Acid style. For example, Danish miso plum cakes or Swedish Semla can be found in the display case. There’s also really good coffee. Acid Berlin serves seasonal and fairly produced coffee from Tornqvist. If you want to visit the new branch: You’ll find the second branch in Prenzlauer Berg directly behind Markthalle Pfefferberg, whose wooden interior almost steals the show from the sweet treats.
