Renzo Piano's Theater am Potsdamer Platz opened in 1999, seats 1,754 guests, and has been home to Cirque du Soleil's first permanent European show since 2025. Behind the 35-meter-high glass facade lies the grand staircase, and every year during the Berlinale, the venue transforms into the Berlinale Palast, the main screening location for the film festival.
On the fifth floor of the hotel The Mandala, Facil sits as a fully glazed roof-garden restaurant above Potsdamer Platz, ringed by densely planted bamboo and with chestnut trees and fountains on the terrace. In 2026 it turns twenty-five, it holds two Michelin stars, and the gourmet menu starts at five courses for 238 euros.
The Wintergarten Varieté on Potsdamer Straße continues a name that began on Friedrichstraße in 1888, where it hosted the world's first commercial film screening in 1895. The current venue opened in 1992, accommodates nearly 500 guests, and presents its own productions of acrobatics, music, and comedy in a hall with a starry sky.
The Tipi am Kanzleramt, Europe's largest stationary tent stage, is located in the middle of the Großer Tiergarten, between the Federal Chancellery and the House of World Cultures. Guests sit almost exclusively at tables across 800 square meters, where food is served during the performance, and in front of the tent is a beer garden with a view of the Chancellery.
The Restaurant Sæson at the Hotel Lulu Guldsmeden in Berlin-Tiergarten offers fresh, international cuisine. A highlight of the Sæson is the Sunday brunch with international delicacies.
In 1982, Adib Harb founded Berlin's first Arabian delicacy import business on Potsdamer Straße; today, his children run the establishment. Spices, from Za'atar and Sumac to Mahlab, are cold-ground. They also offer Tahini from cold-ground sesame and wines from Château Ksara. Exotic ingredients are also available here unpackaged in household quantities.
GRIPS Theater is the most famous children's theater in Berlin, performing since 1974 in a building from the Interbau exhibition at Hansaplatz. The main hall seats 367, while a second stage in Podewil at Alexanderplatz shows plays for children as young as two. The theater gained fame with the Berlin revue 'Linie 1,' which has been on the program since 1986.
The Stage Bluemax Theater on Marlene-Dietrich-Platz was originally an IMAX cinema designed by Renzo Piano and was converted in 2007 for the Blue Man Group, which had its own venue here until 2025. Today the compact auditorium with around 600 seats works as a guest performance venue for musicals, currently Fack Ju Göhte.
After the war, Potsdamer Platz, on the border of Tiergarten and Mitte, lay fallow for almost fifty years because the Berlin Wall ran right through it. Since 1998, a complete district covering 68,000 square meters has stood here, through which approximately 100,000 people pass each day. The Panoramapunkt in the Kollhoff Tower takes guests up 100 meters in about 20 seconds.
In the Ehrenhof on Stauffenbergstraße, Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg and his co-conspirators planned the assassination attempt on Hitler, and here they were shot the very same night after its failure. Admission, public tours and the audio guide of the German Resistance Memorial Center are free, and scenes for Operation Valkyrie were filmed here.
The Zoologischer Garten on Hardenbergplatz takes birthday groups on a ninety minute guided round in a version made for five and six year olds, to lions, elephants and penguins, with animal facts, riddles and games. The guided round costs a flat 75 euros for up to twelve people, and the birthday child itself gets in free of charge.
The jogging track in the Großer Tiergarten is not only very spacious, but incorporates also a sightseeing programme which make the track also interesting for tourists alike.
On the central island of the Großer Stern in Tiergarten stands the Victory Column by Heinrich Strack, completed in 1873, crowned by the 8.3-meter-high gilded Victoria. 285 steps lead to the platform at an approximate height of 51 meters, from which the view extends over the Tiergarten to the TV Tower. At 4.50 Euros, it offers the city's most affordable panoramic view.
