A registry office does not have to be grey and sober, and that is what I wanted to show with this list. I gathered the most extraordinary wedding venues in Berlin, from the Fernsehturm to a boat on the Tegeler See. Here are my ten favourites for everyone who is looking for something special when saying I do.
The Umweltforum in Friedrichshain is the former Church of the Resurrection, built between 1892 and 1895 and a protected monument since the 1970s. The hall measures 450 square meters and reaches 17 meters in height. As a wedding venue in Berlin, it offers a sacred setting in a house that partly generates its own electricity.
The Berlin TV Tower at Alexanderplatz is Germany's tallest structure at 368 meters, with the observation deck located at 203 meters. For weddings, the area with a bar and 60 panoramic windows can be exclusively rented. As a wedding venue in Berlin, it offers the city's highest "I do," though only for guests who are able to walk well.
Fangrot Boat Rental is located on Tegeler See in Marina Prinzenhof and has been family-owned since 1964. Its saloon yacht Heidelberg was built in Köpenick in 1924 and has been electrically powered since its renovation in 2021, making it almost silent. As a wedding venue in Berlin, it is one of the few places where 'I do' can be said on the water.
The Panoramapunkt is located on the 24th and 25th floors of the Kollhoff Tower at Potsdamer Platz, approximately 100 meters above the city. From the platform, the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, and TV Tower are all aligned in a single line of sight. As a wedding venue in Berlin, it offers a special feature: celebrations are held on an open sun terrace.
The Britzer Mill, located at the edge of Britzer Garten, is a Dutch windmill from 1865 and is the only Berlin mill that still grinds flour using wind power. Civil weddings can no longer be held here, but there is the 'Vermehlung' (milling ceremony) performed by the miller. As a wedding venue in Berlin, this is the most unusual ceremony after the civil registry office.
Steglitz Manor House on Schloßstraße is one of the few surviving early Prussian Neoclassical buildings in Berlin. David Gilly designed it around 1800, and Heinrich Gentz completed it in 1803 for the statesman Carl Friedrich von Beyme. As a wedding venue, it offers a rare advantage: ceremony, celebration, and photos are all under one roof.
The Spandau Citadel is a 16th-century Renaissance fortress, at the center of which stands the Juliusturm (Julius Tower), Berlin's oldest secular building. Ceremonies are held in the Prince's Room of the Commander's House or in the Gothic Hall. As a wedding venue in Berlin, it offers ceremonies, a banquet hall, and open space behind a moat.
The 'An der Alten Försterei' stadium in Köpenick has been home to 1. FC Union Berlin since 1920 and accommodates 22,012 spectators, most of whom are standing. Weddings here can be civil ceremonies, on the sidelines, or in the 'Schlosserei' (metal workshop) on the main stand. As a wedding venue in Berlin, this is the address for couples for whom this club means something special.
In the Gardens of the World in Marzahn, there are two wedding venues to choose from: the Stone Boat in the Chinese Garden, which juts into the pond like a petrified ship, and the Hall of Receptions in the Oriental-Islamic Garden under a glass dome. As a wedding location in Berlin, this is a rare opportunity to get married amidst themed gardens.
The Ermelerhaus on Märkisches Ufer is one of Berlin's last Rococo townhouses and one of the city's few wedding venues where the ceremony and celebration can take place in the same historic hall. The Bel Etage, with its ceiling paintings, dates back to the 18th century. Celebrations are held directly by the water in the historic harbor.
