The Panoramapunkt in the Kollhoff Tower: up in 20 seconds

The Kollhoff Tower stands in the middle of Potsdamer Platz and, at 103 meters, is the tallest building in the district. Hans Kollhoff designed it as part of Renzo Piano’s team. It was completed in 1999 after four years of construction, and the observation deck has been accessible since April 2000. Its red brick facade makes the tower recognizable from afar. You go up by elevator, which is considered Europe’s fastest passenger elevator and completes the ride in about 20 seconds. The wedding party is thus on the 24th floor within half a minute, about 100 meters above the street traffic. The S-Bahn and U-Bahn station Potsdamer Platz is a good hundred meters away; the tower does not have its own parking spaces.

Wedding Ceremony in the Panorama Café, Reception on the Sun Terrace

Upstairs, guests can expect an all-glass Panorama Café, from which the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Berlin Cathedral, and TV Tower can be seen. On a clear day, the view extends to Teufelsberg. The Panoramapunkt hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions there; whether the ceremony is civil or free, couples arrange directly with the venue. One floor higher, on the 25th floor, is the 230 square meter sun terrace, which is accessible via stairs and is ideal for an open-air champagne reception. In total, the event area accommodates between 20 and 500 guests. The lower platform is wheelchair accessible by elevator, but only for a maximum of three wheelchairs at a time.
