The Spree is Berlin's river, winding through the heart of the city past its greatest landmarks. From Museum Island to the Oberbaum Bridge, the Spree ties the city together and gives it much of its character. This overview gathers Berlin locations along its banks.

Germany's first beach bar has been located directly on the Spree in Berlin-Mitte since 2002, opposite the Bode Museum: sand underfoot, real palm trees, fairy lights, and free open-air salsa and tango evenings. No other place in the city combines a museum backdrop with a summer feeling so effortlessly.

Club der Visionäre is a wooden structure on the Flutgraben with a single floor where a maximum of fifty people can dance. There are also jetties over the water, a willow tree above the dance floor, and its own pizzeria. Among Berlin's techno clubs, it is the smallest and has the lowest entry fee; Ricardo Villalobos became famous here.




Two ships, one Spree, zero boredom: The Shipotel Berlin is located between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, directly on the East Side Gallery, offering overnight stays on the water instead of in a conventional hotel room. Those who want to experience Berlin differently sleep here in cabin beds with a view of the Oberbaumbrücke.

The MS Hoppetosse is an excursion steamer from 1928, which was sunk in 1944, later salvaged, and in the nineties, cut into pieces and dragged to Berlin. Today it lies in Osthafen, with three decks, featuring Minimal House from the Club der Visionäre team. Of all techno clubs in Berlin, this is the only one where you can experience the sunrise while swaying.

The white crosses are commemorating those who lost their lives trying to overcome the GDR border fortifications to escape from East Germany.



The café and restaurant boat Spree-Blick is a tightly moored boat on Berlin-Moabit's Hansabrücke. Closed right now.

IPSE is the open air club of the Berlin-Kreuzbergs's well-known Freischwimmer Restaurant, the club's direct neighbour.
