The MS Hoppetosse is an excursion steamer from 1928, which was sunk in 1944, later salvaged, and in the nineties, cut into pieces and dragged to Berlin. Today it lies in Osthafen, with three decks, featuring Minimal House from the Club der Visionäre team. Of all techno clubs in Berlin, this is the only one where you can experience the sunrise while swaying.
MS Hoppetosse: a ship from 1928 as a clubhouse
The MS Hoppetosse was built in 1928 on the Baltic Sea as an excursion steamer, served as a hospital ship during World War II, and was bombed and sunk near Travemünde in 1944. Later, it was salvaged, repaired, and in the nineties, cut into two parts to be towed via waterways to Berlin and reassembled in the Osthafen. Since then, it has been firmly moored on Eichenstraße, between Arena Berlin and Badeschiff, with a view of the Oberbaumbrücke. It is operated by the team of Club der Visionäre, who see the ship as an indoor counterpart to the wooden club on the opposite bank. The ship is only a few hundred meters away from Club der Visionäre on the other bank, and the programs of both venues run together.
Three decks, minimal and sunrises over the Osthafen
Music is played on three decks; the floors in the program are called Main Deck and Lower Deck, with the Sun Deck above. Musically, it remains Minimal House and Techno from the Visionäre family, with series like Musek, Quirk, Juno x Hoppetosse, Yellow Mellow, Apricots Jam and Mission, and guests such as Francesco Farfa, Tobi Neumann, Franco Cinelli, Dorian Paic, Alexander Skancke, and Legowelt. The areas remain manageable: The Lower Deck has around 90 square meters, the middle deck 114, the Sun Deck 168; up to 450 guests are possible for private events. The real charm lies on the water, because when the sun rises over the Osthafen, the ship is the only place on this list where you can sway on the Spree. Below, it remains dark and loud, and both together make the difference to any club on land.
