For this list, I chose Berlin's weekly markets based on freshness, variety and atmosphere. It was important to me that regional and organic products are well represented and that a market offers more than just shopping. I paid attention to the mix of stalls, the quality of the goods and the special Kiez flair that makes a weekend market stroll so enjoyable.
The Neukölln weekly market at Maybachufer, with up to 180 stalls, is one of Berlin's largest weekly markets and is located on the Landwehrkanal. Turkish and Arab traders sell fruit, vegetables, olives, and sheep cheese by the crate, alongside organic stalls from Brandenburg and fresh Gözleme. For weekly shopping in Neukölln, this means a wide selection for little money.
The weekly and organic market at Boxhagener Platz, with 80 to 100 stalls, is the largest weekly market in Friedrichshain. Organic vegetables from Brandenburg, fresh tofu, cold-pressed oils, cheese, and locally smoked fish are offered alongside street food from Lángos to Falafel.
