The Locanda 12 Apostoli by the Grunewaldsee tempts with a summer garden, a beer garden and a forest playground right next door, and the Café Kiezkind at Helmholtzplatz in Prenzlauer Berg even has a heated indoor sandpit. At the family-friendly Café Rudimarie in Neukölln, a playground, skate track and green space lie right outside the door, while the Chalet Suisse beer garden in Dahlem invites you to take a break in the shade of tall trees. The children get their action, while mum and dad enjoy coffee and cake in peace with the little ones in view. That way the outing is relaxed for everyone. For this list, one thing was especially important to me: that parents can relax and enjoy themselves while the children play within sight. That's why I looked for places where a playground or a romping area is part of the deal, indoors as well as out. That way the coffee stays hot, and no one has to miss out on a lovely afternoon.
The Locanda 12 Apostoli restaurant is located in a listed property on Lake Grunewald. In summer an idyllic summer garden, a beautiful beer garden and a forest playground lure many families to an excursion to Lake Grunewald.
The beer garden of the Swiss restaurant Châlet Suisse is nicely located under the shading trees of Grunewald.
The family-friendly café Rudimarie at Weichselplatz is located in-between a nice playground, skate area and park.
Café Kiezkind on Prenzlauer Berg's Helmholtzplatz is a place where kids can have fun both in summer and in winter. Next to a really nice outside playing area, the café also boasts a heated indoor sandbox!
