Berlin's most famous costume shop has a new address: Deko Behrendt, for decades a Berlin institution for costumes, party decorations, and carnival items, has moved from Schöneberg to The Playce shopping center at Potsdamer Platz and presents a freshly curated assortment there.

Deko Behrendt: Traditional Berlin Brand with a New Look

Anyone in Berlin looking to buy a costume can hardly avoid Deko Behrendt. The traditional brand has been a household name in the city for decades. In 2021, the store had to leave its old location on Schöneberger Hauptstraße but found a new home in The Playce at Potsdamer Platz. It immediately becomes clear that it was worth it. It’s no longer as cramped and familiar as it once was on Hauptstraße; instead, you get a quicker overview and no longer have to queue up shortly before the peak costume days. The assortment itself continues to impress and has been freshly curated at the new location.

Costumes, Decorations, and More for Every Occasion

From costumes to party decorations to balloons, Deko Behrendt offers everything for a successful celebration, including Halloween costumes and matching accessories for the spookiest night of the year. Carnival, hen/stag parties, weddings, or themed parties: The assortment covers all occasions and includes over 1,000 items, plus wigs, hats, and makeup. Around Halloween, an additional pop-up area is added. In addition to costumes for various celebrations, there is an atmospheric selection of decorations and balloon bouquets for both private and business events. Particularly practical is that corporate events and trade fairs are also catered for, as the team develops tailor-made decoration solutions from conception to implementation. Nothing is rented here; all costumes are sold over the counter. Open Monday to Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM.
