The German Museum of Technology at Gleisdreieck in Kreuzberg showcases steam locomotives, airplanes, ships, and historical computers on the grounds of the former Anhalter freight station. Admission is free for those under 18, and for everyone on Fridays from 13:00.

German Museum of Technology: History of Technology at Gleisdreieck

The German Museum of Technology in Kreuzberg is an excellent place to learn more and stay curious. The museum is located on the grounds of the former Anhalter freight station and tells the cultural history of technology. Airplanes, steam locomotives, computers, ships, and printing presses are among the exhibits, and a Raisin Bomber can be seen from afar on the roof of the new building.

The exhibition on computing technology features a replica of the Z1, Konrad Zuse’s first calculating machine. The “Maritime World” exhibition showcases the history of shipping across three floors, and the historic locomotive sheds house trains from various eras.

Museum Park, TechLab, and Science Center Spectrum

In the Museum Park, historical windmills and a forge illustrate the development of energy technology. The TechLab focuses on digital manufacturing such as 3D printing and laser cutting. At the Science Center Spectrum, visitors can experiment with physical phenomena at around 150 stations.

Children and young people under 18 pay no admission fee; on Fridays from 13:00, the museum is free for everyone. Adults pay a regular fee of 15 Euros, and with an annual pass for 55 Euros, many short visits are worthwhile.
