Easter at Museumsdorf Düppel: Medieval meets Spring

A trip to Zehlendorf is especially worthwhile this Easter weekend. From Good Friday to Easter Monday, the Düppel Open-Air Museum transforms into a living farming village from 800 years ago. Easter 2026 takes place from April 3rd to April 6th, covering the entire long Easter weekend.

Participate instead of just watching

Over the long Easter weekend, visitors to the spring-like museum village can expect a varied program with stalls and hands-on activities. Sustainability is a key focus: The open-air museum invites families to numerous activities and interactive events where children can get creative, paint Easter eggs, weave washcloths, or watch a puppet show. Those who bring their own fabric scraps can use them directly for weaving.

At Museumsdorf Düppel, history is not just observed, but experienced. While the first spring flowers bloom, families can immerse themselves deep into medieval daily life. Children can swing the hammer themselves at the forge, paint Easter eggs, or build small boats from natural materials. A hand-cranked children’s carousel adds a nostalgic flair.

Düppel Open-Air Museum: History to Touch

On approximately eight hectares of historical grounds, surrounded by gardens and fields, Museumsdorf Düppel showcases reconstructions of medieval dwelling houses, storage facilities, and workshops. Rare animal breeds also live on the premises: endangered species such as the Skudden sheep and the Düppel pasture pig are at home here. This is especially enjoyable for the little ones, particularly at Easter.

Good to know: As there is only a limited number of parking spaces, the museum recommends arriving by S-Bahn, bus, or bicycle. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash. Children and young people under 18 years of age have free admission, making Easter at Museumsdorf Düppel particularly attractive for families.
