What makes the Quartier Schützenstraße in Mitte particularly special is its typical old Berlin backyard buildings, as they are often found in the city.

If you walk into the Zimmerstraße at Checkpoint Charlie, you will see a colorful complex of buildings just a few meters away. The Quartier Schützenstraße is enclosed by the Zimmerstraße, Markgrafenstraße, Schützenstraße and Charlottenstraße. This place is characterized by the war and the Berlin wall time and was originally fallow land. Today, here stands a modern and colorful office and business building. The complex was designed by the Italian star architect Aldo Rossi and built after the fall of the wall from 1994 to 1998.

If you go through one of the open arched doorways, as it can be found in the Charlottenstraße 16, you enter one of the four courtyards of the neighborhood. What looks like a normal backyard with bicycle parking at first sight turns out to be an interesting photo pot from a different perspective.

Standing in the middle of the courtyard, looking up to the sky, the view reveals a quadrangle that is formed by the buildings with their yellow facades. Looking at the quadrangle in the sky makes you feel very small and the world around you seems gigantic. It is this effect that makes the photo special and unique. This photo motif has long been famous in social networks. If you continue to the next entrance in the direction of Schützenstraße, you enter another courtyard. Here the houses shine with red facades and the visitors are surrounded in the form of a hexagon.

It makes sense to stop by on a sunny day for photographing in the Qartier Schützenstraße, as the blue sky provides a nice contrast in the photo. But you can also shoot a nice photo on dull days, which then achieves a different effect.

If you like being in the picture yourself, you can use the façades in various colors in the Schützenstraße district as a neutral backdrop for a beautiful photo, which should appeal to fashionistas in particular, if they want to put themselves in the spotlight for Instagram in a new outfit.
Top10 Berlin tip: The Quartier Schützenstraße is located very centrally in the trendy Prenzlauer Berg. Further interesting photos spots can be found in the immediate area.
