In Mitte, directly on Zimmerstraße at Checkpoint Charlie, House of Tales offers five themed rooms - from "One Night in Hong Kong" to "The Executioner" and "The Curse of the Pharaoh" to "Checkpoint Charlie" and "The Illuminati Obsession" - each with 60 minutes of playtime starting from 37 Euros per person. What sets this provider apart: In addition to the live escape rooms, there are four outdoor city rallies through Berlin, two online escape games, and a Versus Game for two teams of 8 to 14 people, accessible directly at Kochstraße underground station.
Checkpoint Charlie as backdrop and concept
Those who leave Kochstraße underground station will find themselves in front of Zimmerstraße 90 – and thus in front of one of Berlin’s most renowned escape room providers. House of Tales focuses on historically charged themed rooms that feel like time travel, both geographically and conceptually: No other escape room location in Berlin is so close to an authentic piece of city history. That one of the five rooms bears the name of the adjacent border crossing is no coincidence, but part of the program.
Five Rooms, one House of Tales – and much more than an Escape Room
At House of Tales, visitors can expect five escape rooms that could hardly be more different – from Berlin’s most difficult escape room “The Illuminati Obsession” to the XL room “The Curse of the Pharaoh”. Those also looking for adventure beyond the rooms will also find it: Outdoor city rallies lead with tricky puzzles across Berlin. In addition, two online escape games are available, which can be played directly in the browser – immediately playable with up to six people per group and an unlimited number of groups simultaneously, whether in multiplayer from different locations or all together in front of a screen.
Cinematic equipment, fair game management
As for the rooms themselves, House of Tales convinces primarily through the detailed equipment. The Checkpoint Charlie room is considered particularly authentic, with an original radio, period furniture, and interactive props. Clues are given without time penalties – the puzzles are varied and fairly designed, so that real problem-solving is required, not just guessing. The Versus Game, in turn, sends two teams of 8 to 14 people into two identical rooms for 60 minutes – with the question of who are the better gangsters. Escape Rooms regularly start from 37 Euros per person.
