Animal park, dinosaur park, and amusement park all in one: The Eicholz Animal and Leisure Park Germendorf in the Germendorf district of Oranienburg is one of Brandenburg's most diverse excursion destinations. Here, alpacas graze alongside life-sized dinosaur models, while rides and bathing beaches await children.

Animal Park, Dinosaurs, and Swimming Lake: A Full Day in Germendorf

Construction of the park began in 1992, founded by the former local mayor of Germendorf, Horst Eichholz. An animal, leisure, and dinosaur park all in one: The Eicholz Animal and Leisure Park Germendorf, with its diverse offerings, is aimed primarily at families with children. No wonder it is one of the most popular excursion destinations in Brandenburg. Around 400,000 guests flock to the park each season.

The total 69-hectare park grounds lead along large enclosures where both native and exotic animals live. We particularly liked the Japanese deer, which roam freely and are very tame. It’s an unreal sight to see the animals grazing next to the extinct prehistoric giants. But alpacas, flamingos, turtles, miniature donkeys, foxes, raccoons, and antelopes are also among the park’s inhabitants.

The Dinosaur Park is the absolute highlight for children. Since 2000, visitors can admire dinosaurs and mammoths along a six-kilometer hiking trail. 86 prehistoric models, including Brachiosaurus and T-Rex, allow visitors to marvel at 300 million years of Earth’s history. In addition, the park offers many playgrounds and varied attractions for children, including trampolines, mini-bikes, bumper cars, and the “Luna Loop” ride. During the summer months, it is also advisable to pack your swimwear, as swimming and fishing are permitted in the park, even for four-legged friends at the specially designed dog bathing beach. Those who need a break can use the picnic areas or visit the attached restaurant. There are also several snack stands.

Arrival and Admission

A day ticket costs 8 Euros for adults, and 5 Euros for children aged 7 to 16. A family ticket for two adults and up to three children is available for 23 Euros. This makes the Eicholz Animal and Leisure Park Germendorf one of the most affordable excursion destinations in Brandenburg for families. The huge park is located only about 40 minutes from Berlin. It is open year-round, including Sundays and public holidays.
