Gläserne Molkerei Münchehofe

In Münchehofe, Brandenburg, within the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park, an organic dairy helps children understand where milk, butter, and cheese really come from. Transparency is taken literally here: through glass walls, the whole family can look directly into the ongoing production.
Where Cheese is Made: Family Trip to the Transparent Dairy Münchehofe
The Transparent Dairy has been processing organic milk from Northeast Germany into high-quality dairy products since 2001, making it one of Brandenburg’s most experienced excursion destinations for families with children. The concept is as simple as it is convincing: the name says it all. Already at its founding, the vision was to demonstrate the journey of milk from the organic farm to trade. Families walk through the dairy’s gallery, and on both sides, large glass walls offer a view of the production facilities.
The Transparent Dairy also offers special guided tours for children and school classes, making the excursion a real experience for the little ones. Each tour ends with a tasting of the in-house products. Specialties include fresh organic hay milk, organic cheese specialties, organic barrel butter, and yogurt products. Afterwards, a stroll through the farm shop is worthwhile. In addition to its own organic dairy products such as milk, butter, yogurt, and cheese, it also offers other foodstuffs. The range extends from fruit and vegetables to baked goods and specialties from the Spreewald region. If you want to round off the day, there’s even more: after the tour, the theme garden, a playground, pastures with traditional cattle breeds, and an old orchard invite you to linger and explore nature. As one of Brandenburg’s most beautiful excursion destinations, the Transparent Dairy Münchehofe creates a rare mix of knowledge transfer, fresh air, and good food. Prior online registration is required for tours.
Prices and Directions
Adults pay 12 Euros, children up to 5 years have free admission, children between 5 and 12 years pay 6 Euros. The dairy is located approximately 70 km south of Berlin in the heart of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park, just under an hour’s drive from the center of Berlin. Its location in the nature park offers attractive excursion destinations in the surrounding area, and the Spreewald is also not far.
