On the legendary grounds of the former UFA film copying plants in Tempelhof, chickens, ponies, and ferrets have long swapped the screen for straw and green spaces. The ufaFabrik Children's Farm is pedagogically supervised, free of charge, and offers a real stable scent.
Farm meets Neighborhood: The ufaFabrik Children’s Farm in Tempelhof
The children’s farm at ufaFabrik is part of a neighborhood and self-help center that emerged from the peaceful occupation of the vacant former UFA film production facilities on the Teltow Canal. What lives and clucks today on the approximately 1,600 square meter site at Viktoriastraße 13 only shares its name with film. Ponies, rabbits, guinea pigs, geese, chickens, turtles, and ferrets live here and are all daily involved in educational activities. The pedagogically supervised children’s farm is home to around 40 animals. So, if you think real agriculture is unattainable in Berlin, you should simply take the U6 to Ullsteinstraße.
All offers for schoolchildren and young people are participatory and free of charge. In a natural, friendly, and protected environment, children have the opportunity to shape their free time and gain experience in independence, group skills, and responsibility. This is not an empty promise; you feel it from the very first moment.
Animal Care, Pony Riding, and Tent Week: What the ufaFabrik Children’s Farm Offers
Children can help with animal care under supervision, ride ponies, do crafts, dance, or simply play. Outside, there is also a playground with a sandbox and large play equipment, as well as a table tennis table. There’s also plenty to experience indoors: a workshop and a circus wagon await, as do PCs for homework and a dedicated retreat for girls. The weekly family day is particularly popular: For visitors outside the target group, the children’s farm is open on Wednesdays for Family Day from 14:00 to 17:00. Pony riding takes place in summer from 15:30 to 16:30 and in winter from 15:00 to 16:00. On weekends and public holidays, everyone can visit from 12:00 to 15:00.
If you’re looking for more than just an afternoon, you’ll also find it here: whether it’s pony time, pottery workshop, ferret training, campfire, or cake baking station, the children’s farm is a place of life and experience where children feel that their actions make a difference. A special highlight during the summer holidays is also the overnight holiday offer, the so-called “Tent Week,” which takes place directly on the children’s farm grounds. In short: this children’s farm in Berlin is far more than just an excursion destination; it’s a true neighborhood anchor for children, families, and anyone who wants to know where eggs come from.
