Behind the stove is a team shaped by Marco Müller, the three-Michelin-starred chef of Rutz Restaurant in Mitte. Florian Mennicken, who previously worked at Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer and Facil, now leads the kitchen by the canal. Together, they bring Berlin classics to Kreuzberg: Tartare, pike-perch, and Königsberger Klopse, consistently interpreted in Berlin style. The surprise menu starts at 35 Euros for five small dishes, with the larger version for 75 Euros. The focus is on the region, presented contemporarily with plenty of vegetables and herbs.

Rutz Zollhaus is located directly on the picturesque Landwehr Canal in the heart of Kreuzberg. In summer, dining is outdoors; in winter, the wood-paneled dining rooms welcome guests with rustic tiled stoves. Bright spaces, modern lighting, open wine cabinets, and dry-aging refrigerators meet light plaster, gray sandstone, and dark stained wood. If you open the wine list, bring time: the selection ranges from a solid Sauvignon Blanc for 30 Euros to a Château Latour 2001 for almost 1,000 Euros, with a special focus on excellent Bordeaux wines.
