Charlottenburg has many faces, but on Saturdays it shows its most beautiful one: Around 150 vendors transform Karl-August-Platz into a culinary district offering everything a good market morning needs, from regional organic vegetables and antipasti to street food stalls.

Since 1894: More Than Just a Weekly Market

Karl-August-Platz was established as a market and church square in 1894 and named after the Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. This makes the Karl-August-Platz weekly market one of the oldest weekly markets in the district, offering a wide range of products presented with genuine passion for over 125 years. Against this backdrop, right next to the Neo-Gothic Trinitatis Church, a market scene unfolds twice a week that goes far beyond the usual offerings. On Wednesdays, the market is open from 08:00 to 13:00, and on Saturdays until 14:00. So, if you plan Saturday as your market morning, you’re doing it right, because that’s when the selection is largest.

Karl-August-Platz Weekly Market: Street Food and Regional Diversity

The market features a colorful mix of organic fruits and vegetables, Neuland meat, and a wide selection of flowers around the Trinitatis Church. Additionally, there are cheeses, sausages, mushrooms, and antipasti. Between 40 and 100 vendors are present, and those who look closely might discover rare potato varieties like “Linda”, lavender, handmade chocolate, fresh pasta, or Mediterranean specialties such as flatbread, olives, and goat cheese. Furthermore, household goods, handicrafts, and first-class street food complete the picture. Turkish vendors bring their culinary specialties, and small snack bars as well as coffee stands invite visitors to linger and chat. This creates an atmosphere that doesn’t feel forced, but simply embodies a good Charlottenburg Saturday morning.
