Markt am Maybachufer

Where Neukölln is most aromatic: The market at Maybachufer, directly on the Landwehr Canal, is one of Berlin's most beautiful and largest weekly markets. Here, Turkish Gözleme stands, African specialties, and organic products from Brandenburg line up, twice a week, free of charge, with canal views.
The Maybachufer Market: Street Food by the Water
The weekly market at Maybachufer looks back on a long tradition. Since 1881, it has brought the people of the capital together and was once one of the city’s largest markets. In the 1960s, it struggled to survive but was shaped and saved by the influx of Turkish families in the 1970s. Today, it bears the name „BiOriental” and combines oriental offerings with organic products and handicrafts.
With up to 180 vendors, it is one of Berlin’s most popular weekly markets. In fact, it is the capital’s second-largest market and is famous for its wide range of affordable, fresh vegetables and fruits. It offers not only international food specials and freshly harvested fruits and vegetables from Africa, Asia, and Europe, as well as organic products from Brandenburg, but also the finest fabrics, ribbons, and trims.
Street Food between Gözleme and Pomegranate
Anyone strolling through the market stalls can hardly miss the street food stands: From Turkish Gözleme to fragrant spices and freshly baked pastries, the offerings reflect Berlin’s diverse culinary landscape. The Chez Zu stand, for example, serves Gözleme for 3.50 Euros with wafer-thin dough, as well as zucchini and cauliflower fritters for 2.80 Euros. Prices throughout the market are fair, especially shortly before closing.
The Maybachufer Market takes place every Tuesday and Friday from 11:00 to 18:30. Cash is advisable, as many vendors do not accept card payments. Since April 2025, the market has also been the site of a sustainable reusable packaging project, jointly initiated by GRÜNE LIGA Berlin and diemarktplaner, which also puts it on an ecological course. Its location directly on the picturesque canal makes the market experience truly special.
