Häppies

Häppies

Häppies is a yeast dumpling-paradise in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. The declared aim of the little dumpling store is to make the connoisseurs happy!

Everyone knows them from skiing or children’s birthdays: Yeast dumplings - with baked plums and plenty of vanilla sauce. The snack bar "Häppies" by owner Uli Marschner in Dunckerstraße in Prenzlauer Berg emerged from a simple idea, the passion for creative cooking and a successful crowdfunding campaign. The small shop serves yeast dumplings in all variations - classic or extraordinary, hearty or sweet. The friendly owner calls her creations of yeast dumplings after her friends and family members.

For example there is "Bärbel", a dumpling with goat cheese and honey-walnut-filling, rucola pesto and cranberries or "Gabriel", the dumpling with organic chicken and gorgonzola-filling, apricot-rosemary-sauce and nuts or "Julia", a dumpling that is especially popular with children because of the Viennese sausage filling with mozzarella, tomato sauce and Parmesan. A bit more special is "Lina", an Indian dumpling version with spinach-sweet-potato-filling and lentil-curry-sauce. "Netti" is a sweet dumpling filled with ginger plum, served in a small lake of cardamom butter with hand-milled gray poppy.

The yeast dumplings are named Häppies for a simple reason: the delicious dumplings in all their different versions are made to make happy. The whole shop is so full of joy - the chairs, tables and walls are decorated with Häppie-logos. Uli is regularly present on the food markets of the city with the Häppies, e.g. in the winter village at the Arena, where she offers yeast dumplings "To-Go".
