Since 1984, Maharadscha in Schöneberg has been a well-established name among Berlin's Indian restaurants. Located on Fuggerstraße, just a few minutes' walk from Kurfürstendamm, the family-run restaurant serves authentic Indian cuisine with over 50 main courses, Tandoori classics, and a warm service that keeps guests coming back.
Maharadscha: Over 40 Years of Indian Cuisine in Berlin
At Fuggerstraße 21 in Schöneberg, a team that has known how to use spices for decades is cooking. Maharadscha is one of Berlin’s best and oldest Indian restaurants, serving authentic dishes since 1984. This makes it an institution against which other newcomers are measured.
The menu leaves few gaps. Whether vegan, vegetarian, chicken, lamb, fish, duck, or rice dishes: the menu is extensive and includes over 50 main courses. If you still can’t find your favorite dish, just ask. Tandoori Chicken, marinated for 24 hours in yogurt and spices, is on the menu, as are vegetarian options with homemade cheese in a cream sauce with almonds, nuts, and raisins. Exotic drinks like Mango Lassi or Indian wines complete the culinary offerings.
Family-Run, Warm, Straightforward
What distinguishes Maharadscha from many other Indian restaurants in Berlin is its personal touch. The traditionally furnished, family-run restaurant offers a wide selection where you immediately feel at home. Service is provided by an owner couple and their team, who know many guests over the years.
If you come in summer, you should also make use of the terrace. In summer, there is the possibility to sit outside. It’s about a five-minute walk to Nollendorfplatz underground station.
