Currywurst directly from a Berlin butcher, plus fresh fries deep-fried in the best oil: That’s how Berlin tastes, that’s how Curry61 tastes. The concept is simple, but that’s exactly the point. The curry sauce is a well-guarded secret recipe and convinces both Berliners and international visitors. The sausage itself comes crispy fried, the sauce is generously poured over it – exactly as it should be.

We particularly like the modern interior: The huge mural shows a unique version of Leonid Brezhnev (General Secretary of the CPSU, Soviet Union) and Erich Honecker (Chairman of the State Council of the GDR) kissing with a Currywurst in the middle. The famous motif, also known as ‘The Fraternal Kiss’, can be admired in its original form at the East Side Gallery, albeit without the Currywurst.

Curry61 offers both the classic, meat-based Currywurst and a 100% vegan version, so everyone can enjoy Berlin’s signature dish. Also particularly popular in the range is a vegan truffle mayonnaise with real summer truffle. That sounds unusual for a Currywurst stand, but it works astonishingly well. Juicy sausage, spicy tomato sauce, hot curry powder, and crispy fries – Curry61’s Currywurst should not be missed. If you wish, you can also buy the sauce to take home and store it in your own fridge.
