A Stall Between Adlon and Brandenburg Gate

Few Berlin snack bars boast an address like this one. Curry Wolf is located on the median strip at Unter den Linden 77, opposite the Hotel Adlon and within sight of the Brandenburg Gate. Accordingly, the clientele is mixed: tourist groups, construction workers, people from the surrounding ministries, and Berliners who regularly take this route along the magnificent boulevard. The stall is run by Curry Wolf Berlin GmbH under Mathias Wolf, with around thirty-five employees distributed across the locations, catering, and online shop. The Currywurst is available with or without casing, prepared according to a family recipe that the business does not disclose. It costs 4.30 Euros, as do the fries; a combo menu is not offered. Those who don’t eat meat can get a vegan Currywurst or vegan nuggets for 5.80 Euros, making the stall suitable for groups with diverse eating habits. Meals are eaten standing, with a view of the Linden trees and the Gate, turning the stall into a unique attraction for visitors to the city.

OPIUM, Hand-Stirred

Curry Wolf’s true hallmark is a sauce with a memorable name. OPIUM is handmade and jarred, and at the stand, it costs nothing extra. Those who wish to take it home can find it in the online shop alongside other house products, which incidentally turns the snack bar into a small manufacturer. The second special feature is the drinks menu, which, for a snack bar, reaches unusually high: from Piccolo and Moët Rosé to Dom Pérignon Rosé, which is in the three-digit range. Currywurst and champagne are less of a gag than an everyday sight at this location in the city, especially since the Adlon is directly opposite. The Brandenburger Tor station is about one hundred meters away, served by the U5 and S-Bahn lines S1, S2, S25, and S26, plus bus line 100. The business gave up its Steglitzer Schloßstraße location at the end of 2024. What remains are this stand and a second one at Kurfürstendamm, in addition to the catering business and shipping.
