In Berlin-Mitte, on Ackerstrasse not far from Rosenthaler Platz, Yvonne and Ivo Weller have been hand-roasting specialty coffees for over a decade. Röststätte Berlin stands for specialty coffee, its own Barista Academy, and Berlin's largest coffee accessory store, all under one roof.
Röststätte Berlin: Hand Roasting with Principle
In 2010/2011, Yvonne and Ivo founded Röststätte Berlin as one of the city’s first specialty coffee roasteries. The story begins even earlier: The two trained hospitality professionals already rented a small retail space between Koppenplatz and Torstrasse in 2006, after having sold portafilter machines since 2003. Exclusively 100 percent Arabica specialty coffees are roasted gently by hand in a CO2-saving Loring roaster. The roastery pays farmers fair prices well above world market levels and sources coffees from nature-friendly forest gardens, driven by the “From Source To The Final Cup” approach.
Espresso from Finca El Paraíso, double-fermented with cold shock technique, or Cerro San Luis from Costa Rica, honey anaerobic processed: Röststätte relies on modern maturation processes and selected microlots.
Two Cafés, an Academy, and Berlin’s Largest Coffee Accessory Store
Whoever visits Röststätte Berlin gets more than just a cup of coffee. The concept includes two cafés in Berlin-Mitte, a Barista Academy, a distribution for high-end espresso machines, and a webshop. The main location on Ackerstrasse also houses Berlin’s largest retail store for coffee accessories. A second café is located in the historic Hackesche Höfe directly at Hackescher Markt. There, espresso-based coffee specialties such as Flat White or Cappuccino are available, also with vegan milk alternatives.
At the Barista Academy, home users learn everything about preparing espresso and filter coffee, as well as the basics of milk frothing. The seasonal selection of beans changes regularly and ensures variety.
