Konditorei-Café Buchwald

Konditorei-Café Buchwald

The absolute speciality of Konditorei-Café Buchwald on Moabit's Bärenbrücke is the super chocolate Baumkuchen, a layered cake prepared after an old secret recipe.

The founder of the café, Gustav Buchwald, was appointed court confectioner to the Prussian Court in 1842!

Time seems to stand still in this cosy small café: it is still a family-owned business, already in the 4th consecutive generation.

Their traditional Baumkuchen apart, according to the time of year, the guests can make their picks from around 50 hand-made fancy cakes like the dark chocolate Herrentorte, a Champagne Torte or other sweet sins like filled heart-shaped truffled pralinés - each one of them a confectioner's masterpiece.
