The founder of the café, Gustav Buchwald, was appointed court confectioner to the Prussian Court in 1842!
Time seems to stand still in this cosy small café: it is still a family-owned business, already in the 4th consecutive generation.
Their traditional Baumkuchen apart, according to the time of year, the guests can make their picks from around 50 hand-made fancy cakes like the dark chocolate Herrentorte, a Champagne Torte or other sweet sins like filled heart-shaped truffled pralinés - each one of them a confectioner's masterpiece.
