In the Winsviertel of Prenzlauer Berg, 40 square meters hold more tea knowledge than most shelves can contain. Tee und Ton on Marienburger Straße represents tea culture as an attitude: clear aesthetics, global origins, and an owner who truly knows what she's talking about.

Tee und Ton: Tranquility, Quality, and a Small Shop with a Large Assortment

Tee und Ton is a specialty tea shop in the heart of the so-called Winsviertel in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district. The shop opened on September 16, 2006, making it one of the city’s most enduring tea shops. The 40-square-meter store is located in the middle of Marienburger Straße, near Winsstraße. Once inside, you immediately notice that nothing has been left to chance. Clear forms and simple structures evoke the mood of Zen and the tea ceremony, giving customers a sense of grounding and balance. The shop’s principles are clarity, beauty, and quality.

The owner is tea enthusiast and expert Thi Anh Nguyen. She provides personal and competent advice. Those who wish can get information on selection, effects, storage, preparation, and care. Furthermore, individual varieties can be tasted directly on site before purchasing.

Matcha, Oolong, and Clay Teapots from the Far East

The assortment of this Berlin tea specialty shop covers an impressive range. The tea selection extends from herbal and black teas to green and oolong teas, as well as smoked teas and tea roses. However, Tee und Ton is particularly known for its matcha expertise. A specialty of the shop is matcha tea, a particularly fine ground green tea traditionally prepared with a bamboo whisk. Owner Nguyen carries three to four different matcha varieties in her assortment. For high-quality matcha, this is one of the most carefully curated addresses in the city.

In addition to the tea itself, there is also suitable accessories. The range also includes high-quality teapots and tea sets from Japan and China. Selected clay teapots and tea bowls from China and Japan, as well as pastries and fine chocolates, complete the offer. Thus, at Tee und Ton, you can not only visit a tea specialty shop but also take home an entire ritual.
