HHV Store

The HHV Store in Friedrichshain combines two things that usually remain separate: around 2,500 records with six listening stations and a sneaker wall featuring adidas, Asics, and Salomon. The store originated in 2002 from a record shop called Hip Hop Vinyl, hence the abbreviation. Clothing and DJ equipment are also available. Events are an integral part of this place.

The HHV Store in Friedrichshain: Record Shop and Sneaker Wall Under One Roof

Thomas Ulrich began selling records via email and Excel lists in the late nineties. In 2002, this evolved into a small store in Friedrichshain, then known as Hip Hop Vinyl. This is where the HHV abbreviation comes from. In 2003, the store moved to Grünberger Straße, then to Revaler Straße for a while, and returned to its old address in 2014; the warehouse is now located in Marzahn and is one of the largest record warehouses ever. The record trade has grown into an operation with around 130 employees, where fashion and sneakers now account for about 40 percent of sales. This exact mix is unique in Berlin: those who come for a pair of shoes often leave with a record. In addition to the store, the company runs its own music magazine and a journal. The sales area is on the ground floor, while the warehouse is far out in Marzahn.

2,500 Records, Six Listening Stations, and a Wall Full of Sneakers

On approximately 200 square meters, there are about 2,500 records spanning Hip Hop, German Rap, Reggae and Dancehall, Soul, Funk and Jazz, Electronic, and Rock, plus six listening stations where you can sample before buying. For equipment, there are needles, headphones, record brushes, and DJ supplies. If you want to sell your own records, you can offer them here. Opposite is the sneaker wall with models from adidas, Asics, and Salomon, complemented by separate categories for women’s shoes. The clothing ranges from socks to winter jackets, featuring Carhartt WIP, Barbour, Patagonia, Gramicci, and Plasticana, changing rooms included. Sneakers are priced between approximately 100 and 200 Euros, with a pair of adidas Tangum costing just under 120 Euros. Online ordered goods can be picked up at the store and are held for up to fourteen days. Regular events with musicians, brands, and artists take place here. Within Germany, shipping is free for orders over eighty Euros, and a return label is included. There are far more records there than would ever fit in the store.
