Boulevard Berlin: Shopping Center on Schloßstraße in Steglitz

Boulevard Berlin is located on Schloßstraße, the most important shopping street in southwest Berlin, and opened in 2012. It was created from two old department stores: The buildings of Wertheim and Karstadt were renovated and connected by the O&O Baukunst office, while historic facade elements were preserved. The former Treitschkestraße, which ran between the two buildings, was transformed into a covered city promenade that now extends from Schloßstraße to Harry-Breslau-Park. This makes the shopping center feel less like a closed block and more like a continuation of the city. In total, the building comprises approximately 76,000 square meters of total area, of which about 64,000 square meters are retail space spread over four levels. Those arriving by public transport can alight at Schloßstraße or Rathaus Steglitz, where the U9 and S1 lines stop. Right next door are two other centers, Schloss and Forum Steglitz, making it easy to combine a stroll. After Kurfürstendamm, Schloßstraße is considered the city’s second most important shopping street, and Boulevard Berlin is its largest individual component.

Shops, Gastronomy, and the Renovation at Boulevard Berlin

The assortment covers classic downtown needs. Major tenants include Galeria, H&M, Media Markt, dm, Douglas, Deichmann, Pandora, and SportScheck, plus a fitness club spanning two floors. Dining options include Coffee Fellows, the market hall and Galeria’s restaurant, Giovanni L., Lindner, or Reformhaus Quentin, and an Edeka with its own bakery is available for weekly groceries. An info point on the ground floor provides assistance and gift cards for the center. Things get exciting from 2026: Extensive renovation work will begin, focusing on the first and second floors, while shops remain open. Additionally, on the former electronics market space, an indoor adventure world by the Swedish provider Boda Borg will be created across approximately 3,300 square meters, where teams can work their way through themed rooms. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with opening planned for mid-2027.
