A Bridal Atelier in Schöneberg North, by the Bavarian Quarter

Malloe is located on Martin-Luther-Straße in Schöneberg North, not far from Viktoria-Luise-Platz and the Bavarian Quarter. It is one of the areas where Berlin’s Wilhelminian era architecture can still be seen cohesively, and where you can easily spend another hour after a fitting appointment: wide sidewalks, plane trees, stucco facades, and quiet squares with fountains and benches. The Viktoria-Luise-Platz U-Bahn station on the U4 line is nearby, Nollendorfplatz and Bayerischer Platz are each about one kilometer away, and because Martin-Luther-Straße is a continuous thoroughfare, the address is also easily accessible by car. The atelier is run by Dorota Nowicki. Fittings are exclusively by appointment and in a quiet environment, which in this establishment is more than a mere courtesy: there is no open shop operation where someone else might walk in between two dresses. One to two accompanying persons are recommended, in exceptional cases three, so that the decision does not end in a vote. The first fitting is scheduled for approximately 90 to 120 minutes, subsequent fittings last about an hour.

Each Dress is Newly Sewn After the Decision

The actual difference from a classic bridal boutique lies in Malloe’s process. During the fitting, sample dresses are pinned, so that the effect is visible even if the sample differs by up to two sizes. The actual dress is then custom-made to the bride’s measurements, up to size 44. All alterations are included in the price, with wedding dresses starting at 2,500 Euros. Work is done with lace on skin-colored mesh with floral motifs, with micro-sequins and real pearls; skirts are created from lace, satin, Mikado, silk, or chiffon, with fabrics sourced from European weavers, primarily from Italy, France, and Switzerland. In addition to long dresses, the collections include a dedicated line for civil wedding outfits, short models, and a bridal pantsuit. Wedding shoes, veils, hair accessories, and clutches are also created in-house, with shoes ranging between 220 and 289 Euros. For the search, eight to twelve months lead time is advisable; the creation itself takes four to six months, and fine-tuning an additional one to two months. Those with shorter notice can order with an express surcharge or take a sample dress directly.
