The Berlin Adult Education Center: Courses in all twelve districts

There isn’t just one adult education center for all of Berlin. Each of the twelve districts has its own VHS, which means the nearest course location is usually not far from your own home. Additionally, there are many online courses and hybrid formats that can be reconciled with changing working hours. VHS City West for Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf is located on Pestalozzistraße.

The program of the Berlin adult education centers is among the most extensive in German adult education. It includes languages from English to Arabic to Chinese, integration courses, computer topics like Office, programming and AI, as well as health, vocational training, art, and culture. Anyone who has decided to learn a language or try something new professionally will almost always find a suitable course here.

Affordable, flexible, and diverse

Course fees are low. At VHS City West, one lesson unit costs 3 Euros, reduced 1.50 Euros. Discounts are available for students, apprentices, unemployed individuals, and holders of the Berlin-Ticket S, among others. Payment can be made by direct debit, EC card, or cash.

Many courses are also recognized as “Bildungszeit” (educational leave), for which employees in Berlin can be granted paid time off. The adult education center no longer deserves its dusty image; the current program covers almost everything you might consider for a new year, from languages to digital topics.
