Showbühne Berlin

Showbühne Berlin is one of the city's smaller variety theatres: 144 seats in row seating, a Gründerzeit building on Köthener Straße and a stage four and a half metres wide. The programme includes burlesque with Lola La Tease, drag, GDR comedy and the male revue SIXX PAXX. For a variety show evening, that means very short distances to the stage.
Showbühne Berlin on Köthener Straße
Showbühne Berlin is located at Köthener Straße 44 in Kreuzberg, a few minutes’ walk south of Potsdamer Platz and within sight of Anhalter Bahnhof. The building dates back to the Gründerzeit era, while the hall behind it is modern, air-conditioned and barrier-free. In row seating, 144 guests can be accommodated; with other seating arrangements, up to 199 people fit into the room. The hall measures approximately fifteen by fifteen metres, the stage is four and a half metres wide and sits one metre above the floor. Because of these dimensions, nobody is seated far from the stage, and the performers work close to the audience. Cocktails and small snacks are available at the bar in the hall and can be ordered before the show and during the interval.
Burlesque, Drag and Comedy on the Showbühne Berlin Programme
The programme rotates between several fixed series and covers a wide spectrum. Best known is the burlesque show “The Showgirls of Burlesque” featuring British artist Lola La Tease, who presents classic burlesque with great humour, elaborate costumes, an oversized champagne glass and a shower scene inspired by Flashdance. The male revue SIXX PAXX combines dance, acrobatics and singing and has given the venue its second name. In “Dit is Berlin”, Albrecht Hoffmann slips into the role of the painter Heinrich Zille and guides the audience through city history with currywurst and champagne. There is also the GDR comedy “Genossen! Stillgestanden!” with Bockwurst and potato salad, as well as a drag show. Tickets for the burlesque show start at 32.90 Euros.
