La Candela Salsa

Since 2018, La Candela Salsa has specialized in Salsa Cubana, teaching right next to Hamburger Bahnhof, five minutes from Hauptbahnhof. The salsa course in Berlin-Mitte progresses through five levels with over 100 hours, covering Timba, Son, and Rueda, with instruction in English. For beginners, this means: confidently on the dance floor after a six-hour Beginners Course.

La Candela Salsa: Salsa Cubana at Hamburger Bahnhof

Ido Flaishon, who has been dancing and teaching since 2008, founded La Candela Salsa in early 2018. The school focuses entirely on Salsa Cubana and Cuban dances such as Son, Afro-Cuban, Timba, and Rueda de Casino. Flaishon has also developed his own Timba variant called Street Salsa. The studio, located right next to Hamburger Bahnhof, is soundproofed and features approximately 60 square meters of dance floor on a sprung floor, along with a good sound system and a kitchen. Instruction is in English, which makes the courses particularly accessible to Berlin’s international community.

Salsa Academy in Five Levels

Entry is through the Beginners Course, which teaches the basics for your first dances in six hours; a partner is not required. Afterwards, the Salsa Academy continues through five levels and over 100 hours, usually in fixed groups in an eight-week format with a balanced ratio of leaders and followers. A single lesson costs 18 Euros, a 10-class card 160 Euros, and memberships start from 69 Euros per month. For practice, there is the weekly open Practica Salsa & Friends for 6 Euros.
