About Blank: a techno club operating as a cooperative
On Markgrafendamm, directly by the tracks at Ostkreuz, About Blank is run by a ten-person collective that makes decisions by consensus; the crew comprises over a hundred people, and its legal form is a cooperative. The club describes itself as a left-wing, queer-feminist, anti-racist, and anti-fascist establishment with a uniform wage and a solidarity economy: everyone earns the same, profits are not distributed, a minimum fee of 300 Euros applies to DJ sets, and the fees for big names are capped. A donation model helps bear the economic risk. Since 2010, it has become one of the few places in the city where club operations and political work are the same project.
Two Floors, a Garden, and its own Festival
Inside, there are two floors, outside a garden stage, plus three bars. The garden characterizes the property: sumac trees, a rainproof tent, table tennis, foosball, old bathtubs, and the Rote Wagen (Red Wagon). Musically, it ranges from techno and house to experimental club music, punk concerts, and discourse events, and a large part of the program is organized by external promoters; long-running series like Staub are part of it. Once a year, the club hosts its own Festival of Anti-Fascism. Photography is strictly forbidden, phone cameras are taped over, the cloakroom is staffed by people instead of lockers, and the venue generally does not advertise via social media. The site is located on a reserve area for the continued construction of the A100, and this threat is real and not new.

The night ticket usually costs 15 Euros before midnight and 20 Euros after. For solidarity parties, you pay between 10 and 20 Euros based on self-assessment; the sparkling wine garden is free.
