Ritter Butzke operates in the halls of the Butzke-Werke from 1893, a former fittings factory in Kreuzberg. It started without any permits in 2007 before legally reopening in 2009. Ritter Butzke: Techno in an 1893 Fittings Factory
The brick halls on Ritterstraße belonged to the Butzke-Werke, a fittings factory built between 1893 and 1898 in two construction phases based on designs by Georg Lewy. After production moved out in 1997, the site was converted and is now called AQUA Carré. The club started in 2007 in two former factory halls, initially without permits, was closed after an anonymous criminal complaint, and moved to Haus am Köllnischen Park for a few months. In October 2009, Ritter Butzke legally reopened at its current location. The character of the halls remains: bricks, high ceilings, and an inner courtyard that serves as an open-air area in summer.
Up to Three Floors and a Timetable No One Knows in Advance
Depending on the event, up to three floors are open, and one ticket is valid for all of them. The program is broader than its reputation: House and Techno form the core, with live sets by Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Oliver Huntemann, Extrawelt, Lexy and K-Paul, Deborah De Luca, or Cosmic Gate, plus Hip Hop, classical music, poetry slams, vogueing, and drag. Around two hundred events a year take place, with their own label Ritter Butzke Records and an in-house video channel running alongside. The club generally does not publish playtimes in advance; who plays when is only revealed on-site. Admission from 18 years with ID; a parental authorization is not accepted. Access is low-barrier, there are appropriate sanitary facilities, and an awareness team with a clear Code of Conduct.

Since June 2026 the area has belonged to the Alexandrinenviertel parking zone at 3 euros per hour, and on Sundays parking is free.
