The small O-Ton Art Theater is a classic Berlin backyard stage with a program mix of chanson, song evenings, concerts, cabaret, and comedy.
The O-Ton Art Theater, located in a backyard in Berlin-Schöneberg, is a classic small stage for chanson, cabaret, and comedy. The genres are not strictly defined; the boundaries are fluid: chanson and song evenings, concerts or musical plays, theater, queer comedy, and cabaret evenings.
The theater emerged from a small ensemble, the “O-Ton Pirates,” which performed and guested in many different locations and has finally – since 2010 – found a permanent venue in Schöneberg with the O-Ton Art Theater in a former printing house. In recent years, the small theater has built a reputation in Schöneberg as a productive small stage that cannot be strictly confined to one genre. The small, privately run theater stages around 180 performances a year.
In “Berlin’s Courtyard Theater for Royal Entertainment,” self-productions, music evenings, and guest performances by renowned artists such as Tim Fischer, Geschwister Pfister, Irmgard Knef, and Meret Becker alternate. Talented newcomers also get their chance. At the O-Ton Art Theater, one can enjoy a musical city tour, experience a Zarah Leander song evening, a Tour de Chant with love songs from the 20s to today, as well as solo programs by comedians and cabaret artists.
The small theater has 74 seats, of which 24 are club armchairs and 50 are upholstered chairs. Reservations are recommended.
