Roller Disco at SO36: After Work on Eight Wheels

Lacing up your roller skates right after work might sound absurd, but it’s less so than you think. SO36 is reviving the roller disco tradition, this time with a new concept: a relaxed after-work roll takes place several times a month. To the sounds of funk, hip-hop, and roller boogie, roller skate pros and novices can glide around the venerable dance floor of SO36 and end the start of their week with some sporty fun. So, instead of an office chair, there’s a dance floor; instead of a conference room, there’s disco lights. The after-work concept makes all the difference from a regular club night.

To ensure no one is left out, there’s a little jump start at the beginning. For all those who don’t yet feel like John Travolta on eight wheels, a roller skate dance class is on the program at the start of the evening. The dance class is free of charge. If you don’t have your own roller skates, you don’t have to miss out: roller skate rental costs 2 Euros per half hour upon presentation of an ID card, however, the supply of rental skates is limited. If you want to be sure, come early.

Kreuzberg Setting, No Dress Code Required

SO36 is no ordinary event venue. Located in the legendary Kreuzberg district, the club is directly on Oranienstraße. Today, it hosts live acts, club nights with art exhibitions, nocturnal flea markets, and roller discos, and the venue quickly became an exception in the local club scene. It’s precisely this mix that makes the evening so exciting. So, if you’re not looking for a fancy club after work, but rather a place where someone might occasionally fall and laugh heartily, then the Roller Skate Disco as an after-work event at SO36 is the right place for you. As a weekday party, doors open as early as 8 PM, so getting up early the next morning can no longer be an excuse.
