Open Air Stage and Cinema Weißensee

The open air cinema Weißensee has been operated by a group of Berlin cinema friends since the season 2014. Apart from the big stage with seats for 1000 people, they have also introduced a smaller stage for an audience of around 200 for other events.

Also, for anyone that would like to snack along the movie can get some delicious drinks or food at the kiosk where they also hand out blankets for the colder nights in summer.

Next to true film classics they also screen demanding movies from current productions. In recent seasons the so-called “DEFA Thursday” showed as features well-known DEFA productions. Additional specials were Kinderkino (“Children’s Cinema”) and German Cinematics. The movie programme was completed with regular puppet theatre plays as well as free readings and concerts.
