BeachMitte at Nordbahnhof: Europe’s largest inner-city beach facility

BeachMitte is located on Caroline-Michaelis-Straße, a few steps from Nordbahnhof and the Berlin Wall Memorial. The S-Bahn, the U6 at Naturkundemuseum, and four tram lines stop within walking distance, and the facility itself recommends arriving by public transport. The story began in the early nineties on Chausseestraße with seven professional courts, which grew to 36 within seven years. In 2006, the facility moved to Nordbahnhof, where additional offerings have been added step by step ever since.

Today, in summer, there are over 35 open-air sand courts. During the colder half of the year, three illuminated air-supported domes with a total of 17 courts take over, each nearly 1,800 square meters in size and heated. This makes BeachMitte one of the few Berlin addresses where a summer concept can be booked just as easily in January. Additionally, there’s an 18-hole adventure golf course across three themed worlds, the MountMitte high ropes course, padel courts, an artificial ice rink, Bavarian curling, and a trampoline hall.

Teambuilding between sand courts, high ropes course, and adventure golf

For companies, there is a dedicated events division offering formats from team building and incentives to conferences and kick-offs, as well as summer parties and Christmas celebrations. According to their own information, the venue brings over 25 years of experience and more than 5,000 corporate clients. The modules can be combined: a moderated fun tournament on the sand with an award ceremony and team photo, moderated beach games that can be integrated into a story upon request, or team climbing in the high ropes course for two and a half hours with qualified guides.

The high ropes course, in particular, makes the difference compared to a mere sports afternoon. Six courses with over ninety obstacles are spread across three height levels up to thirteen meters, and those at the top depend on their colleagues on the ground. Prices for corporate events are calculated individually; individual prices serve as a guide: a sand court costs from 18 Euros per hour in summer, the high ropes course 27 Euros per person including instruction. For groups of twenty or more, BeachMitte opens individual areas even outside regular hours, and an in-house catering service is also part of the facility.
